Strengths of All Parts
Check out this video explaining the opening of more doors to Dr. Janina Fisher's model of the strengths of adaptive resilience.
Check out this short video introduction to using the Strengths of All Parts Chart.
The Strengths of All Parts (SOAP) Chart: A Neurobiologically-informed Psychoeducational Tool Supporting Adaptive Resilience is an extension of Dr. Janina Fisher’s 2010 book of charts entitled Psychoeducational Aids for Treating Psychological Trauma. Drawing on her representation of a trauma-based parts model in which the parts are celebrated as resources, not pathology, and are compassionately embraced by the client’s adult self, the SOAP Chart provides a visual and tactile means of helping trauma-affected individuals recognize and relate to their parts. In collaboration with Dr. Fisher, we set out to support clients in appreciating their inherent strengths as integral to restoring their sense of safety in the world. For more information on Dr. Fisher's additional resources (books, readings, and trainings), click here.
The SOAP Chart is a psycho-educational tool meant to compliment Dr. Fisher's original 2010 series of clinical charts and her 2017 book, Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Internal Self-Alienation, and to serve as an additional “interactive” guide to help reduce shame, confusion, and a sense of being alone in our responses to human struggle. It can be easily used by anyone participating in healing work, but may be particularly helpful for therapists, community organizers, and individuals working with complex and seemingly “unsolvable” relational concerns/processes.
